I have been dying to share this simple meatball recipe with you. I made them for our super bowl party and they were a hit even among non-vegetarians.
My mom originally made them for Judy's baby shower last winter and I devoured them. She made one crock pot with meat meatballs and one with vegetarian meatballs. I just had to get the recipe from her and was absultely astounded by the ingredients: frozen vegetarian meatballs, grape jelly, cocktail sauce and that's it!
The sauce is tangy and tastes fancy and complex. You can throw it all in crock pot a couple hours before a party or make them for a low key meal.
All you need to do for this recipe is use equal parts of grape jelly and cocktail sauce. You can make them as saucy as you want and adjust the proportions to make any size batch.
First, warm up the crock pot and then add the combined the grape jelly and cocktail sauce. The mixture will be lumpy at first so you will want to cook the sauce for about 30 minutes in the crock pot, then whisk the sauce to make it smooth and fully combine the two ingredients.
Lumpy sauce above.
Once the sauce is warm and whisked together, dump in the vegetarian meatballs, cover, and heat on low for 4 hours.
